Welcome to Transforming Our World! In this mini-series, Professor Jeffrey Sachs explores the history and content of the goals, and begins to explore the path forward, highlighting the critical role of innovation and specific groups in promoting the sustainable development agenda, namely business, civil society, and universities.
In this course, you will learn:
What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
How modern advancements and connectivity can help us achieve the goals
The importance of sustainable development
Why you should care about the Sustainable Development Goals – as a corporation, as a university, as an individual
Course Structure and Requirements
This course is self-paced, which means that the content is available in its entirety as soon as you enroll. Students may enroll at anytime, and may complete all content at any time suitable to their schedule. This course will close on August 31, 2019.
While self-paced courses are not monitored by course staff or instructors, we encourage students to share their experiences, questions, and resources with one another using the discussion forum. Read through the "Course Engagement" section (up next) to learn more about the forum.
Structure: Video lectures, readings, and quizzes
Estimated time commitment: 1 hour per module
Requirements: An internet connection. There are no other pre-requisites for this course.
Grading Policy: You will be graded on comprehension questions following each video, as well as a short final exam. Grades will be assigned as follows: 60% for comprehension questions, 40% for final exam.
Certificates: In order to be eligible to purchase a verified certificate, students must successfully complete the course. To do this, students must score an average of 70% or higher on the quizzes, all of which are multiple choice.
