Welcome to "Music Makes One healthy" class
Today our topic is "Music can regulate mood"
Emotions are a series of general term
for subjective cognitive experience
with variety of feelings thoughts and actions
synthetically generating its mental and physical state
The most common and popular emotions
are happiness anger sadness and fear etc
There are such delicate emotions
as proud comfortable and ashamed etc
Emotions are related to psychology
character temper and purpose etc
So recently there is a popular word called emotional management
It is derived from emotions and produces various problems
For college students emotional problems
roughly divided into four large parts
First part is
emotional overreaction
If things happen, they are excessive anger
unable to control anger and create a series of bad results
And excessive anxiety
The degree of anxiety has an adverse impact on learning
Because of excessive tension it distracts people and
reduces the efficiency of work and study
There is also excessive stress response
Emergency response refers to the parties
stimulated by a certain environment
produces a series of reactions
Then this state accompanies by various negative emotions
For example fear shock and disgust etc
and too much stress response even add some painful
hostility, fear and other emotions
The second part is
called lack of emotional response such as depression
Melancholy is a sad state of mind
Showing no passion and feeling worried
Some people don't want to talk
Loss of appetite
Then this performance among college students is more common
For example, some students are afraid of facing
academic competition and learning pressure
or dissatisfied with the major
that falls into infinite melancholy
and loses interest in life and study
They can't appreciate the happiness
Their activities begin to decline
They avoid contact with people
More seriously, it accompanies by bad mood
Insomnia, even a tendency to die
Others become indifferent and
don't care about things and people
Their behaviours show no passion and interest in life
They are indifferent to learning and other friends
Even to others' greetings they are indifferent
They're insensitive to group activities
The third part is called negative emotions
that last too long or are too generalized
For example, a college student
when answering questions in class
suddenly felt nervous, he made a mistake
It made the clasamates laugh
He was criticized by the teacher
Since then, in this teacher's class
He is extremely nervous and anxious
Later developed into fear
he sit in the last row of the class
and is very scared
The teacher gazed at him
he dare not enter the classroom
He fears others' attentions
Due to this event
it triggers his negative emotions.
Without proper handling
it was generalized to all similar situations and caused
emotional disorders and barriers to relation
The fourth part is unacceptable
and uncontrollable emotional state
For example, a student said
Alas, while learning some thoughts flashes
107
they are meaningless and messy
The more I control it, the more serious it is
He was distressed for this
The student's emotional distress
is due to his emotional response can't accept it
It is common for college students
to face these emotional problems
However, negative emotions are not bad
People is adapting to the environment
It's a necessary reaction
But if this emotion lasts too long
or if it is to generalized
Then it will seriously affect
our normal life study and work
and have seriously negative effects on his body and mind
So we look for and accept those useful methods
that can regulate our emotions
Something like this such as music
We know, music can transform emotion
Then I tell you a true story
in 2008

Then this picture and the overwhelming ruins
make a sharp contrast
Sure, the first one that attracted
is the children of the earthquake zone
As time went by
The smile showed on their faces
Then a middle-aged man,entered
with Professor Tian Gao

With a sad music background
it made this man all at once go
back to the moment of the earthquake

he scrambled around holding his head
and lost his pain in sad music
When the emotion is released to a
certain level, he began to speak
His wife and children can't be found
The future can not be fully expected
Then, the music is gradually melancholy

So why
music can affect our emotions

Everyone has a different interpretation
When we try to feel the music
It is based on previous experience
construing the meaning of music
So the emotions induced by music
have strong individual differences
Induced mechanism of musical emotion
is very complicated
There are several different reasons
First it is
called brainstem response
We all know that
when we watch horror movies
when we feel scared, the best way
is to turn off the background music
Once the effects of elements are significant
Our brainstem will be activated

It connects the brain and spinal cord
arousing emotional and attention control
and other functions, which is closely related
So stimulated by music
our brainstem reflex
triggers us to evoke certain emotions
Second
第二
integrating the rhythm
"Nothing can stop"
We have all heard this song
Let's imagine
When you ride a bike
hear this song
what is it like
I think it feels like on a motorcycle
Rhythmic music

For listeners
Rhythm perception
are usually synchronized with actions
They connect together
The synchronization of beats and
movements often happens naturally
It does not require special effort
That's why it has an amazing feelings
when ride bicycles
Feeling the wind passing by
The third is emotional infection
Rhythm pitch and other elements
can convey emotional clues
Sad music usually has a lower pitch
the rhythm is relatively slow
Some researchers pointed out
music patterns, people in different
emotional state and physiological state
and motor characteristics
have a close relationship
Slowly descending music themes
when they are sad simulate people's
movement state
so as to convey sadness
When the listener feels after the
emotional cues conveyed by the music
Related emotional brain regions will be
activated and imitate those emotions
Fourth, visual imagination
Traditional interpretation of musical
instruments is drama without words
In the TV series "Symphony Dream"
When the girl played a sad Sonata,As if you were in a reed
in the second movement
Chiaki outside the door
is like you were in a reed
Heard the wind, music

In the spring of Verdi's Four Seasons
everything is thriving
In the walk of Zhao Lei's "Chengdu"
We seem to see
the hazy night of the ancient city

When we are immersed in music
Visual imagination
the imaginary picture and related emotions

often awakened like this
Fifth, evaluative conditioning reflex
When music is positive or negative
after repeated emotional stimuli
when we hear music you will feel happy and sad
This is the power of conditioned reflex.
We won't even realize it happened.
Then found in the research
Participants in an unpleasant scene
listen to a piece of music repeatedly.
After this
a commodity with this piece of music
is presented to the participants
Their affection for the goods
in comparsion to before has a noticeable drop
While other types of conditioned reflex
emotional reflexes evoked by music
are relatively more stable
So how do we use music to adjust our emotions
The habit of listening to music
is common among college students
Many students use music to adjust their emotions
Music plays a role in this kind of emotional emotion
We call it functional music
Functional music refers to music with a certain effect
It is not limited to genre audience within a certain range
Music that regulates
all aspects of people is called functional music
No matter what kind of emotion we are in
if there is a need to regulate emotions
The following steps should follow
In the field of music therapy
there is such a principle
a principle of synchronization
What emotion do you have
With what kind of music
So in terms of daily life
mood regulation can be done in the following steps
First step
第一步
we must first look for a calm
No matter what emotion you are in
calm is the basis before adjustment
Here,I choose Saint-Saëns' Swan
This music comes with a very beautiful picture
Like a swan floating on a calm lake
Layers of ripples around me
Put you in a very quiet and soothing environment
So your emotions
start following this swan and slowly calm down
But after the mood is calm
we can enter a adjustment process
Second step
第二步
we follow the melody of music
That is, follow the melody of thinking
Leading by it thinking follows the melody
It can be elevated
It can also be reduced
At this time, in your mind
It forms such a linear graph
When music goes high our line can be raised
When music down our line can be lowered
So fluctuating
we'll be at once in the world of music
It leaves other emotions out of your mind
Third step
第三步
we have to follow our own rhythm
I also said before
Everyone Is actually has their own psychological rhythm
What does your rhythm look like
If you want to relax
then you can choose a rhythm like a folk ballad
Then here is the melody is a very typical
A classic country folk song "Country road"
Last step we are going to define the theme
Usually our young college students
there will be such a upward and inspirational a theme
So here we say
In order to build such a confidence
I choose this one "I believe"
Let's follow this song the melody of "I Believe"
Taking everyone together to our thriving thinking
I think humans originally created music
that is used to release our emotions and convey our emotions
So music is our inner emotions
Then let's give yourself to music give your emotions to music
It definitely bring you a sea of blue sky
Thank you
