Mrs. Wang is a retired worker, aged 73 and has a body height of 1.55m and a bodyweight of 67kg. She has been widowed for ten years and has one son, who now lives in a foreign country. She has a history of diabetes and hypertension for 15 years. She received surgery for cataract two years ago and now has a poor vision. She can take care of herself in activities of daily living, but cannot stand for too long due to physical function decline. At present, she lives along on the first floor of a six-storied old-style residential building, which has no elevator. Her home consists of two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom, about 80 square meters in total. The floor of all rooms is paved with smooth-surface ceramic tiles. The lighting of the living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen is poor. The TV bench and tea table in the living room are cluttered with all sorts of things. The electronic appliances are old, and several cables are connected to one extension socket. The sofas and tea tables are low, and the corners of the furniture are all square. The light switch of the bedroom can be found near the door. The bed is an old-style wooden bed, which is about 1m from the floor. There is a gas stove in the kitchen, and a gas tank supplies the gas. The kitchen countertop is relatively high. The bathroom has one bathtub and a toilet bowl. There is no separation between the shower area and the toilet area. The door of the bathroom cannot open from the outside.
The room layout is shown in the group of pictures below.
Questions:
1. Does Mrs. Wang’s home have a reasonable layout? Are there any unsafe factors?
2. What harms can an unsafe home environment bring for Mrs. Wang?
3. Please list out all rehabilitation/safety appliances that may be possibly useful in Mrs. Wang’s home.
