Commitment, Language, and How to Pass:
Commitment: 8 weeks with 4-6 hours preparation and review each week: 2-3 hours of lectures/hands-on sessions, 2-3 hours of reading materials/viewing materials
Language: English with English video downloadable scripts
How to pass: Pass all graded assignments to complete the course.
In order to pass the course, you need to earn a passing grade on each of the required assignments, including quizzes, peer-graded assignments, and the final project.
Quiz (30%): there are 1-2 quizzes per instructed video, one attempt each
Assignment (40%): Select FOUR reflection questions from the eight units, one question per unit. Write and post the reflection question while peer reviewing one from your peers. Reflection on four questions is 28% (4x7%); Four Peer-review assignments 12% (4x3%).
Final Project (30%): A research proposal related to a specific topic in SLA. Submit your assignment (25%) and review one peer’s assignment (5%).
Due dates & Grading policy:
Students will have all course materials once enrolled. There are suggested due dates to help manage work progress. Quizzes can be submitted late without consequence. However, it is possible that a grade will not be awarded if a peer-graded assignment is submitted too late because classmates usually review assignments within three days of the assignment deadline.
Although there is no penalty for submitting your work late, it’s important to submit your work as close to the due date as you can. Classmates grade most of the assignments within three days of the due date. If you submit yours too late, there may not be anyone to review your work.
When you provide feedback to your classmates, we ask you to be respectful, encouraging, honest, and professional. Acknowledge what your classmate did well and offer specific and constructive suggestions on how they can improve. Scores should reflect the learner’s understanding of the assignment prompt and points should not be deducted for difficulties with language or differences in opinion.
