    China has become one of Boeing’s most important partners in civil aviation and has enjoyed a successful 27-year relationship. It all began with China’s purchase of ten Boeing 707 jetliners which was followed by a series of Boeing initiatives and training programs to assist with development of China’s rapidly growing airline industry.

    As the world’s premier aerospace company, Boeing has always been committed to a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership with China’s aviation industry.

    In 1972, China bought the first ten Boeing 707 jetliners. Today, there are about 470 large passenger jet airplanes operating in China. Over 320 or 68% of these are Boeing model airplanes. Over the last 27 years, China has ordered nearly $15 billion dollars Boeing B model airplanes and nearly 64 new Boeing airplanes were delivered to China during the 1997-98 time period.

    For nearly 80 years, the Boeing name has been synonymous not only with the world’s best airplanes, but with the best customer support in the aviation industry. However, nowhere is Boeing commitment to customer support more visible than in China as the sale of aircraft has been accompanied by a partnership dedicated to airline industry infrastructure development and industrial cooperation.
