学生们在谈论阅读体会时,
经常使用“我”,
例如“我对这个故事很感兴趣”,
或者“我被这个故事吸引了”。
主语“我”不是问题。
问题是句子很单调。
能不能让它有点不同呢?让我们读读这个句子:
让我们读读这个句子:
我深深地被小说中的波折情节所吸引,
并被主角不幸的命运或者对主角做出的不屈不挠的斗争感动地热泪盈眶。
你认为这个句子怎么样?
你可以说“我被……深深吸引/深深激励”
你看,句子结构几乎一样,
除了用了一些不同的动词替换掉“感兴趣”、“被吸引”这样的陈词滥调。
你注意到句子中的名词和名词词组“twists and turns, fight against, lots”
和形容词“unhappy, unyeilding, unfortunate”吗?
这些词让句子变得更具体,因而令人印象更深刻。
那么,怎样才能进行具体的描述,避免给听众无聊的印象?
我的建议是记住并重述你的真实感受,
现在中文中找到表达情感的具体词汇。
然后借助汉英字典,或者线上翻译软件,
你就可以找到具体地表达了。
但是还有最后一步一定不要忘了。
没有这一步,绝大多数学生失败了,
甚至更糟,让听众有了一个坏印象。
这一步就是,把你找到的英语表达用于写作或谈话之前,
一定要先查查他的英语解释和英语例句。
你还可以再往前走一步,利用网上语料库,
比如美式英语语料库corpus.byu.edu/coca/,
可以查到英语环境中这些词汇或词组的正确用法的所有句子。
这就保证了你能用自己的方式正确地表达一个句子。
另一种表达阅读感受的方法是聚焦于作者而不是你自己。
这让你的谈话听起来比较客观,因此更更能被听众接受。
像这样:
作者用幽默的语气描述了他几次徒劳地企图摆脱他注定命运的英雄行为。
你看是吧。
作者以某种语调描写了/报道了/证明了……,
后面接名词词组或从句。
你发现没有?是不是更有趣了?
如果你想使用这类句子类型,
要注意用的动词一定要具体,不能笼统。
有时候我们也可以关注书的构成或者结构,比如,
故事朴实,节奏舒缓,人物温暖而幽默,
整个情节让我有一种心灵放松和被治愈的感觉。
听上去很美,对吧?
那么,就让文章的某个元素成为主语。
(这个元素)是……/让我……/令我萌生一种……之情/留给我的印象是……
写好这个句子的关键是主语,
还有形容词或动词也要具体,
因此你的描述才能客观、专业。
我们再来一起回顾一下这三个句子模板。
尽管我们把主语从“我”变成了“作者”或者要素和结构,
我们还是在表达自己的感受。
这些句子模板会让你的听众或读者觉得客观而专业,对吗?
下面来谈谈怎么表达我们阅读的思考。是不是首先想到的是“我想……”?
我们来尝试一下新鲜表达。
文章中的新颖观点令我重新思考作者提供的事实,
并开始质疑一度被广为接受的观点。
是不是听起来有了专业范儿?
把主语变一变,再选个准确的动词,你也能做得到。
这个句子模板就是
“这个理论/假说/新颖的观点让我想到/重新思考一些事实,
或者质疑曾广为接受的观点。
有时候你可能觉得文章中的数据很有趣,
或者令人惊讶或者很有说服力,你想谈谈这些数据,
又可以怎么说呢?
不要说“这个数据很有趣”,“这个数据令人惊讶”,
“这个数据有说服力”,
你可以稍微说得复杂一点,解释一下基于数据的结果。比如,
在这篇文章中有一组研究人员进行的有趣实验证明了一个众所周知的观点
金钱买不到爱情。
那么就可以说成“这篇文章中,
一些有研究者进行/资助的实验/事实/表明的特征/图表等
证明了/质疑了/提出了一个这样的观点,就是…….”
