We are going to learn the third part of Unit 7
今天我们要学习一个有效的听力技巧
利用信息问题 information questions 来理解故事
信息问题是指那些询问特定具体信息的问题
也叫wh 问题
因为通常这类问题都是以wh开头的
Since all stories contain some common elements
such as time place character(s) conflict resolution
you can often use information questions
to help with your understanding
while listening to a speaker telling a story
The most common information questions are as follows
Now you are going to listen to two conversations
in which the speakers describe
how they have been scammed
As you listen
use the information questions to
gain a better understanding of their stories
From the conversation we know
the handbag of the woman was stolen
so she borrowed a phone to
call her bank to stop her credit card
Because she was in a real panic
she believed that man and called the number
the man gave to her
She thought she talked to someone from her bank
so she gave her name address and account number
and keyed in her PIN. Later she believed the man took her bag
The couple just distracted her
The man in conversation 2 was badly tricked
A fake policeman accused the woman for
paying for jewelry with fake money假钱
The policeman took away cash
necklace and the woman
He didn’t suspect until the closing time
The necklace was worth 600 pounds
He quit because his boss took it out of his salary
The woman must have been working with the guy
