First let’s look at some pictures
Are you familiar with them
These are some bestsellers all over the world
Work in pairs and discuss the following questions
The first picture is a science fiction
written by French writer Jules Verne
the Father of Science Fiction in 1872
The second picture is a series of detective novels
written by Arthur Conan Doyle
The main character Sherlock Holmes
became the symbol of intelligent detective today
Do you know him
The third picture shows one of the fantasy novel series Twilight
written by an American author Stephenie Meyer
She was the bestselling American author of 2008 and 2009
It is a kind of non-fiction book, which gives information
or describes real events, rather than telling a story
Picture 5 is a cover of National Geographic
which is a world-famous magazine published from 1888
The articles and photos in it stand for authoritative
and scientific to make it an encyclopedia more than a magazine
Picture 6 is a graphic novel
a magazine that contains stories told in pictures
We also call it comic book
