Shadow play is the origin of the animation.
Before 2000,
ancient Chinese presented the puppet figures in an exaggerated and abstract way.
It is known to all that nowadays young people are especially fond of animation and comics.
Students try to innovate in shadow play.
They inject the elements of animated style into the role design and match with the animation music.
This experiment has attracted more young people to join the shadow puppetry.
Let's take a look at this figure.
This is an original anime-style Chinese shadow puppet created by students.
The leading character of the play is Yao Lang.
He met Adie who was sentenced for killing her husband.
He has doubts in his mind that the real culprit is not Adie, but evil spirits.
Just when asking Adie for clues,
it was stopped by the ghost.
The ghost took Adie out of the prison,
and when Adie knew about the truth,
she was consoled and was willing to be purified.
Then, she entered the reincarnation.
This is a shadow play created by the students themselves,
and all roles have their own characteristics.
In this shadow play,
the roles are designed with features.
Let's look at the design of this male role:
This is the design of Yao Lang.
You all can see that the design of Yao Lang is different from our traditional male roles.
It was inspired by animation,
designed with anime costumes
and decorated with the pattern design of traditional shadow play puppetry that combines simplicity and complexity.
As for its facial part,
simple lines in animation and cosplay costumes are adopted,
presenting a very strong sense of fashion and a young presence.
Then, another role in this play: Faceless Monster.
It has its own characteristics from the design of the costume and the face mask.
The costume on this body is designed with a perfect matching of complexity and simplicity.
The simple line on the face gives a contrast to the dense pattern of the armor,
and the lines of hair accessories are smooth.
We can see that the shape of the hair has animated elements,
which highlights the extraordinary characteristics of the role,
creating a supernatural atmosphere.
