1.Lurong's efficacy
Lurong has a significant effect of tonifying yang. Therefore, it is called drastic tonification of primordial yang that excels in treating syndrome of kidney-yang deficiency.
Lurong can not only strengthen kidney yang but also reinforce essence and blood,
so the weak and withered muscles and bones caused by liver and kidney deficiency can be effectively improved by Lurong.
It also has the effect of detoxication and promoting granulation and can cure all kinds of sores and ulcers.
Additionally, Lurong can serve as the hematonic to cure purely the syndrome of blood deficiency which is also known as anemia.
2. Lurong's attached medicines
The old Lurong is boiled with water to made deer-horn glue which is shorted as Lujiao. Deer-horn glue is mainly used to replenish essence and blood. The effect of deer-horn glue in replenishing essence and blood is almost the same as Lurong. Its other functions are weaker than Lurong.
Degelatined deer-horn is the residue after extracting the deer-horn glue. The effect of degelatined deer-horn is mild as well as convergent. Therefore, once metrorrhagia or sore and ulcer arise which can't be covergent, they can be cured with the degelatined deer-horn.
3. Precautions for use
Lurong is not suitable for decoction because many active ingredients are not easy to precipitate when it is decocted. It is also not suitable for making wine because some of the active ingredients are alcohol-soluble and the others are water-soluble. Therefore, Lurong can't be fully used in decoction or wine. The best way is to make it into powder and swallow it after it is ground into fine powder.
However, when using Lurong as powder, one should start with a small dose. The initial dose can be controlled within 0.2 to 0.3 grams. After taking it for about a week,if the patient does not have obvious discomfort, he can add another 0.2-0.3 grams to each dose. In this way, adding the amount of the dose until the patient can perfectly adapt to 2 grams of the powder.
