The image of dragon in Chinese folk motifs (graphic and image)

Chinese dragon pattern is linked to the connotation of Chinese civilization. It has been adopted on jade ware, embroidery, lacquer ware, bronze mirror, golden and silver ware, porcelain, building decoration, folk carving, folk paper cut and folk brocade since ancient times as a theme with most vitality in patterns. It has enduring charm as phoenix pattern with strong national spirit inspiration.
The image of Chinese dragon popular in civil society has clear difference to the imperial dragon. They have simple, clean, neat and cute looks, a sharp contrast to the imperial dragon. The civilian Chinese dragon is not as mighty as the imperial dragon and it is an auspicious and kind animal which can bless harvest of crops and bring auspiciousness and happiness to people. They have exaggerated and simple modeling with different colors and kind personality. They are either courteous and accessible or charmingly naive. They are favored by Chinese people.
