Hey Lilly
can you do a brief introduction
to Poland
Why not
I’ve been there once
Poland is in the heartland of Europe
It is also where the Amber Road
an ancient river trade route
which links the Baltic
and the Black Sea regions
and the Silk Road meet
Why is it special
for the Belt and Road Initiative
Obviously
such geological advantage
has put Poland
in a unique position
in the Belt and Road Initiative
with several China Railway
Express trains to Europe
passing through the country
Well done
Thank you
So today let's explore Poland
Hi

Polish culture is
very different than here
in the United States
They have much more
traditional clothing
music and food
A very popular music type in Poland
is known as folk music
Along with the music
their performance for dancers
Many of the dancers
are from traditions or historical
events but some may
include ballroom
or ballet style elements
Nowadays these dancers are
typically tradition for major
holidays or events
The dancers in the performance
wear traditional dresses and uniforms
This wardrobe is rich in colors
and patterns
and covered in ornaments
which include red beaded necklaces
and fancy peacock feathers
The dancers also wear
hard-soled leather
moccasins called kiasu
These outfits were
typically worn centuries ago
by ordinary people
in their everyday life
For very popular traditional dishes
our bigos Kosovo a pierogi and galovski
Bigos is a traditional meat
and cabbage stew also known
as hunters do
It is tradition to
keep a bot but bigos going through
a week or more to intensify flavor
An interesting person from
Polish history is Marie Curie
She was a Polish physicists and chemists
who dedicated her life
to the research of radioactivity
She created elements
such as polonium
Marie and her husband won numerous
awards in recognition of their studies
Her awards included
having the Nobel Prize for Physics
a second Nobel Prize in Chemistry
in the daily medal of the Royal Society
During World War
two Poland was invaded by
Nazi Germany from the West
from the Soviet Union from the east
The country was quickly
conquered with the Nazis
taking control of the west
and central portion
while the Soviet Union
had controlled the East
Poland served as a battleground
during the war
where 5600000 Poles died
Among that amount
were about three million Polish Jews
This was 60.1%
of the population dead
After the World War two
the Soviets rigged the post-war
election causing Poland to
fall under a communist government
Poland would remain under
Soviet control until the collapse
of the USSR in 1990
