上一讲我们学习了熔体的结构,
今天我们来学习熔体的性质。
我们首先来学习熔体的黏度。
什么是黏度?
根据流体力学的知识,
液体流动时,
一层液体受到另一层液体的牵制。
在剪切应力下
产生的剪切速度dv/dx与剪应力σ成正比。
这个比例系数就叫黏度,
用希腊字母一塔表示,
单位为帕斯卡乘以秒。
在描述熔体的性质时,
工程上还经常会用流动度,
流动度与黏度相对,他是黏度的倒数。
一种熔体,黏度越大,
表明越难流动,流动度就越大。
那么黏度和什么因素有关呢?
也同样受到温度和组成的影响。
黏度和温度的关系满足指数关系,
温度越高,黏度越低。
黏度公式中的△E是质点移动的活化能,
也称为位垒。
如果对该公式两边同时取对数,
则lnη和1/T满足线性关系,
直线的斜率反映了活化能的大小。
从这个图中可以看出,
不同温度区间内,熔体的活化能是不同的,
说明活化能与熔体的组成结构有关。
接下来,
我们重点讨论组成与黏度的关系。
在这里,
同学们一定要深刻领会
材料科学中“组成影响结构,结构决定性质”的思想。
首先,从宏观上来说,氧硅比影响黏度。
如上节课所述,
氧硅比越高,
非桥氧数量越多,低聚物越多;
低聚物越多,黏度就越低。
具体来讲,
不同价态的阳离子会对黏度产生不同的影响。
一价的碱金属离子会使石英发生分化,
因此碱金属氧化物的含量越高,
熔体中低聚物含量越高,
黏度越低。
但是不同碱金属氧化物
降低黏度的作用排序和含量有关。
当碱金属氧化物的含量<25mol% 时,
氧硅比较低,
对黏度起主要作用的是
四面体间硅氧键的键力;
继续引入碱金属氧化物时,
由于锂离子半径小,
削弱硅氧键的作用大,
所以Li2O降黏度较Na2O、K2O显著。
而当碱金属氧化物的含量>25mol%,
氧硅比较高,
此时硅氧四面体之间连接已接近岛状,
孤立的硅氧四面体很大程度上依靠碱金属离子相连。
继续引入碱金属氧化物时,
锂离子对硅氧四面体的吸引力大,
使熔体黏度升高,
所以Li2O升高黏度较Na2O、K2O显著。
二价阳离子对黏度的作用与一价阳离子相同,
也会使黏度降低,
但同时应考虑离子极化对黏度的影响。
一般来讲,
极化作用越强,对熔体黏度的降低作用越明显。
三价阳离子中我们分别讨论氧化铝和氧化硼的作用。
一般情况下,氧化铝起到补网作用,
铝离子取代硅离子的位置,
非桥氧重新变为桥氧,
强化了熔体的网络结构,
使得熔体上升。
而对于氧化硼,
他对黏度的作用集中体现为硼反常,
其实质是硼氧三角体、
非桥氧与硼氧四面体的转变。
当硼氧三角体的数量升高时,
熔体的黏度降低。
当硼氧四面体的数量升高时,
熔体的黏度升高。
以在氧化硼-氧化硅玻璃中添加氧化钠为例,
起始体系中,没有非桥氧,
氧化硼以硼氧三角体的形式存在,
熔体黏度较低。
随着氧化钠的加入,
非桥氧增多,
硼氧三角体结合非桥氧转变为硼氧四面体,
熔体黏度上升。
当熔体中所有的硼氧三角体都转变为硼氧四面体后,
继续增加氧化钠含量,
会对硼氧四面体起到分化作用,
硼氧四面体又会反过来转变为三角体,
熔体黏度降低。
因此,随着氧化钠含量的增加,
熔体黏度出现先增大后降低的现象,
这个现象就是硼反常。
同样地,
如果在钠硅熔体中加入氧化硼,
氧化硼会结合桥氧
转变为硼氧四面体,
熔体黏度上升;
当所有的非桥氧都被转化为硼氧四面体后,
继续添加的氧化硼以三角体的形式存在,
熔体黏度降低。
因此,随着氧化硼含量的增加,
熔体黏度也出现先增大后降低的现象。
那么,在钠硼硅熔体中继续加入氧化钠,
黏度会怎么变呢?
作为思考题请大家课后思考。
此外,
如果在熔体中引入一种以上的一价或二价碱性氧化物,
和等量的引入一种碱性氧化物相比,
谁的黏度更低呢?
答案是
引入一种碱性氧化物的熔体黏度低。
这是由于当体系中存在多种阳离子时,
各种离子间可能会相互制约,
使得降低黏度的效果发挥不充分导致的。
这种现象我们叫混合碱效应。
