这节课我们来学习
扩散机制和扩散系数
首先大家来了解一下质点迁移可能存在的微观机制
如图所示
可以看出它里边存在着五种扩散机制
比如说如果按照d这种方式进行扩散
它是两个质点直接交换位置
因此这种扩散机制就叫做易位
那环形扩散e
可以看出4个质点构成一个环状进行协同迁移
那也可以推断出发生这种扩散不太容易
c叫做准间隙扩散
它指的是
原子从间隙位A扩散到正常位置B
而正常格点位B的原子扩散到间隙位C
准间隙扩散晶格的变形程度
介于空位机制和间隙机制之间
那么间隙扩散b指的是
处于间隙位置的质点移入另一个邻近间隙位的过程
最后一种扩散机制是空位扩散
如a所示
正常格点上的原子跳入空位
表明空位与跳入空位的原子分别作了相反方向的迁移
在这5种扩散机制中呢
空位扩散和间隙扩散所需要的能量是最小的
空位扩散和间隙扩散所需要的能量是最小的
因此是最容易发生的
因此间隙机制和空位机制
是扩散的主要机制
我们知道晶体里的间隙是本身就存在的
但是对于空位
它的来源不同扩散机制又有可能出现差别
根据空位的来源
可对空位扩散再进行分类
如果空位来源于
晶体结构中的本征热缺陷
包括弗伦克尔缺陷和肖特基缺陷
在这些空位里发生的扩散叫做本征扩散
它通常发生在温度比较高的时候
温度越高
热缺陷浓度越大
越容易发生本征扩散
而对于非本征扩散
其空位来源于掺杂点缺陷
是由于掺入的杂质离子
其价态与晶体中离子价态不相等
实际上只要掺杂进去发生不等价置换
就会产生空位
所以非本征扩散通常发生在温度比较低的时候
我们已经了解到
受气氛和氧分压的影响
在非化学计量化合物中也会产生空位
在这些空位中的扩散
也可以归结为非本征扩散
但一般不太常见
因此非本征扩散主要指的是
在由于掺杂所引起的空位里的扩散
那不同扩散机制下的扩散系数如何表示呢?
我们知道菲克定律
仅仅从宏观上定量描述了扩散
定义了扩散系数
但没有给出D与结构的明确关系
此外菲克定律仅是一种现象描述
除浓度以外
一切影响扩散的因素都包括在扩散系数之中
但是并未赋予它明确的物理意义
如何将扩散机制和宏观的扩散系数联系起来呢?

我们从一般的无规则行走扩散开始
也就是利用扩散的布朗运动理论
得到一个扩散系数的一般表达式
然后引入不同的扩散机制
主要是空位机制和间隙机制
得出在不同机制下扩散系数的具体表达式
最后我们通过对比不同机制下扩散系数表达式
然后再写出它的一个一般形式
我们先来看无规则行走扩散的模型
它无外场推动力
浓度差非常小
且质点是由于热运动来获得活化能
从而引起迁移
此外就一个质点来说
它的迁移是无序的、随机的
各个方向它的迁移几率是相同的
它的迁移结果不引起宏观的物质流
而且每次迁移与前一次是没有关系的
如图所示就是要用到的无规则行走扩散模型
在晶格中取两个相邻的点阵面
n1和n2分别代表这两个点阵面的面密度
r代表的是两个面上原子的间距
x代表的是扩散方向
f是跃迁频率
是单个原子单位时间内离开平面跳跃次数的平均值
是单个原子单位时间内离开平面跳跃次数的平均值
那么在δt 时间内跃出平面1的原子数
就等于n1×f×t
平面1上的原子可向平面2和3跃迁
其几率是相等的
那么平面1跃迁到平面2的原子数
就可以写成n1×f×t/2
平面2跃迁到平面1上的原子数为n2×f×t/2
所以从平面1到平面2上的净流量
即扩散通量J就等于
如果我们取单位时间
δt就可以省略
又因为面密度n除以面间距r就是它的体积密度C
然后再用浓度梯度代换
最终得到扩散通量的表达式
把它和菲克第一定律进行比较
即可得到扩散系数D的一维表达式
三维表达式就是
这是扩散系数的一般表达式
此式中
明确了菲克定律中扩散系数的含义
并且给出了固体介质中
对于做无规则布朗运动的大量质点
它们的扩散系数取决于
跃迁频率f和迁移自由行程r平方的乘积
跃迁频率f和迁移自由行程r平方的乘积
对于不同的晶体结构和不同扩散机制
f和r是不同的
所以引入不同的扩散机制
可以建立它们具体的扩散系数
首先引入空位机制
尤其是针对本征扩散
必须满足两个条件
1只有具备足够大的能量
原子才能克服跃迁活化能Gm
2只有在跃迁方向上遇到空位
迁移才能实现
原子成功跃迁到空位中的频率f
与结点原子振动频率v、
波尔茨曼因子、
空位浓度Nv相关
可以用下式表达
所以f与ΔGm的联系就建立起来了
A是由晶体结构所决定的比例系数
又因为本征扩散里空位来源于热缺陷
可以计算出其空位浓度为
Gf是空位形成能
把空位浓度带入频率f的表达式
再带进扩散系数里边去
得到下面的表达式
我们把G用熵值和焓值来表示
扩散系数的表达式为
把与温度无关的都写成一项记做D0
代表非温度显函数项
扩散系数就变成
这就是本征扩散系数的表达式
发生扩散需要两部分的能量
首先需要克服空位形成能
其次 需要克服质点迁移能
质点才能发生迁移
对于非本征扩散
例如
在KCl晶体中掺入CaCl2而发生的取代
如下面缺陷反应方程所示
可以看出产生K+空位
因此这种空位机制中总空位浓度Nv = Nv'+NI
其中Nv ’为本征空位浓度
和NI杂质空位浓度
此时扩散系数应由下式表达:
可以看出发生该扩散所需要的能量
只有质点迁移能
对于间隙机制
扩散系数也可以写出来
如下式所示
它和非本征扩散的扩散系数十分相似
间隙本身就存在
不需要先形成
所以发生扩散所需要的能量
只有质点迁移能
总结一下可以看出
扩散系数D是与材料结构、性能相关的函数
与点阵结构中的晶胞参数a0的平方成正比
与空位形成能有关Dexp(-Gf/2RT)
与质点迁移能有关D exp(-Gm/RT)
对于扩散系统中
若基质一定
随着扩散质点半径的增大
质点迁移能增大
扩散系数减小
若质点一定
对于不同的基质而言
基质的结合强度增大
结构致密度增大
质点迁移能增大
扩散系数减小
实际上我们可以利用放射性元素示踪法
对扩散系数进行测量
它们的扩散系数之间存在这样一个关系式
比例系数是f
晶体结构不同f值不同
到了扩散系数推导的最后一步
空位机制和间隙机制下
它们的扩散系数
可以统一成一个一般表达式D=D0exp(-Q /RT)
D0是频率因子(与温度无关的显函数项)
Q是扩散激活能
对于本征扩散:Q=ΔHm+ ΔHf/2
对于非本征扩散和间隙扩散:Q=ΔHm
分析扩散系统里的扩散快慢问题
我们也是始终围绕材料科学研究的主线
即组成决定结构
结构决定性能
我们对上式再进行变形
以1/T为横坐标lnD为纵坐标可作出直线
直线的斜率就是-Q/R
从而可以求出Q值
