除此之外,
能否形成玻璃,还需满足一定的结晶化学条件。
主要体现在键强和键型上。
键强条件又称为孙广汉理论。
该理论用氧化物分解能
和阳离子的配位数的比值定义了单键强度。
键强越强的氧化物,
键的破坏和重新组合也越困难,
越不容易析晶,而易形成玻璃。
据此,可以把氧化物分为三类,
单键强度大于335kJ/mol的
为网络形成体,
如二氧化硅;
小于250kJ/mol的为
网络变性体,
如大部分碱金属或碱土金属氧化物;
介于两个之间的
称为中间体,
如氧化铝。
而从键型角度来讲,
纯离子键和金属键无方向性
且有较高的配位数,
组成晶格的几率较高,
所以该类物质很难形成玻璃。
纯共价键形成的物质
一般为分子结构,
分子之间是无方向性的范德华力,
在冷却过程中形成分子晶格的几率比较大,
也很难形成玻璃。
既然三种纯键型在一定条件下都不能形成玻璃。
那么,什么键型才能形成玻璃?
答案是离子共价混合键和金属共价混合键,
两种混合键既具有金属键或离子键的
无方向性和饱和性,
使质点之间可以自由连接,
形成玻璃的远程无序;
同时
共价键不易改变键长和键角的特点,
造成玻璃的近程有序。
两者结合起来就使得这两类型的化学键容易形成玻璃。
