雅思小作文 视频+讲稿+课件

Hi, I am Judy, welcome to the video lessons for ielts’ writing—task1.

Now, let’s have a look at the course aims:task requirement, structure of the task1, and finally, I will give you a sample of task1.

Let’s start from the first objective-- task requirement.

For the requirement, we need to understand what we need to do before we start our essay writing, as we already mentioned before, task1 needs to describe what you see, within 20minus, Minimum 150 words.

Your task is to describe what you see. You are not supposed to give your opinion; you don’t know why the graphs goes up or goes down, you haven’t got the research, all you see is the graph, and you describe what you see, so no opinion, and no conclusion. Because conclusion is like a final opinion, a final judgment, you can put a summary or an overview instead of a conclusion.

We had mentioned the types of task1 in the criteria of IELTS’ prepared lesson. The first four types needs to show numbers, we just focus on line graphs today.

Now, we will break the task into 3 parts: introduction, details, details and overview.

About essay structure, we will have a look at the four paragraphs.

Now, start from the introduction, you should try to paraphrase the question. So, you take the question, go through it bit by bit, just try to change the key words.

About why we need two details paragraphs, this makes you organize or groupthe information better.

In overview part, you are going to explain the main, general things. Remember: don’t begin with “in conclusion”. Begin with “in summary”, or “it is clear that”…

All in all, you need to describe the important information with very good vocabulary.

Take the line graph for example, you will almost definitely see 2, 3, 4 or 5 lines, you need to compare the lines, not describe them separately.

For example, you need to make a very general comparison first of all. Second, compare the lines at specific points, this is for your details paragraphs, compare with the beginning point, increases, rises of different lines, you could describe the peak point on one or more than one lines, you also could choose stable period on one of the lines. You need to write at least one thing about each line, make sure you do some comparisons.

I hope you still remember that we have a 4 paragraphs structure: introduction, details, details and overview. In this sample, we paraphrase the question as an introduction. The question is:

In this question, we can change a few words to give an introduction:

Now, we move onto details part, paragraphs 2, in which we can compare the lines in more detail specific points. I will begin with the first year in 1980, and then 1981, when nuclear power becomes the most important, the highest for the rest of the period. So in paragraph2, we mainly talk about the highest number. Such as:

Before we describe paragraph 3, one more important tip will be given when describing numbers.

You can't write like this:

Because it makes no sense, we need to change the word, you should write as follows:

About paragraph 3, we need to write at least one thing each line, for example, we see the nuclear line, it keeps increase up to a peak in 2005, the red line has the decrease from the highest at the beginning, for the blue line, it is stable, while the green line, we just mention that it is increase at the end. Paragraph 3 can be described like this:

Now, we can move on to the overview, we are looking for very general information on these graphs, it is easy to find that orange line - the nuclear is definitely the highest over almost all the period. Compare with the opposite, the renewables are the lowest figures. Let’s write the two main things, using 2 sentences like this:

To finish this lesson, let’s look at the vocabulary we have mentioned in this lesson, we look at the example of paraphrasing, comparing language and describing changes. And try to use them when you write a line graphs.

Here comes the writing practice for another similar type of task1:

I hope you can write well after practice bit by bit. And RememberVictory belongs to the most persevering.

That’s the end of the IELTS’ writing lesson. Thank you for your attention.
