今天我们讨论电容器储能的问题。首先回顾一下电容器的充电过程。请看这幅图。
最初,平行板电容器不带电,极板所带的净电荷为零。因此极板间电场为零,电势差为零。
在开关闭合之前,能量以化学能的形式储存在电源中。在合上开关后,导线中有了电场。
正如之前讨论的,与电源正极相接的极板带上正电,与电源负极相接的极板带上负电。
当电容器充电后,两极板带上了等量异号的电荷。
结果,电源中的部分化学能转化为极板间的电势能。
这就是为什么电容器可以储存能量。为了计算电容器储存的能量,我们考虑另一种充电方式,这种充电方式给我们同样的结果。
如图所示,在这个过程中,我们经过两个极板间的区域,机械地把电荷从一个极板搬运至另一个极板。
最开始那一刻,将电荷元dq从一个板搬到另一板上是不需要做功的,因为极板间的电场为零。
但是,一旦电荷dq被搬运至到这个极板,两个极板之间就有了很小的电势差。
这样的话,由于有了电势差,如果继续搬运更多的电荷就需要做功了。
我们可以理解我们搬运电荷所做的功就等于电容器储存的能量。
现在我们来进行计算电容器储存的能量。假设某一时刻,上极板带电+q, 而下极板带电-q.
极板间的电势差为ΔV. ΔV等于q除以C。
因此,为了继续从下极板搬运正电荷+dq到上极板, 我们必须做功dW,因为正电荷是从低电势端移至高电势端。
这里,dW等于dq乘以ΔV。将q/C代入ΔV,我们得到了这个式子。
当电容器充电完毕后,上极板带电量为正的大Q。于是通过对dW积分,从0到大Q,可以得到整个过程我们所做的功。
对电容器充电的这个功就等于储存在电容器中的能量UE。因此,我们可以用这个方程式表示电容器储存的能量。
由电容C的定义,C等于Q除以ΔV, 我们得到三种不同形式的表达式。
我们再认真体会一下搬运电荷的过程。我们从下极板抓住电荷dq把它搬运到上极板。重复这个过程直至电容器充电完毕。
通过这个方式,极板带上了电荷Q,极板间的区域建立了电场。因此,我们可以认为储存在电容器中的能量实际上就是储存在极板间电场中的能量。
对于平行板电容器,ΔV等于Ed, C等于ε0A/d. 将这两个式子代入上述的能量表达式中,我们得到了这个式子。
我们注意到,乘积Ad正好是两个极板之间空间区域所占的体积。如果我们用Ue除以Ad, 就得到了单位体积内储存的能量,用小写ue表示,我们称为能量密度。
某一点的能量密度正比于该点处电场大小的平方。请注意,虽然这个表达式是从平行板电容器导出的,但适用于电场的能量计算。
如果有一个匀强电场E,所占体积为ΔV, 那么电场能量可以由此式直接计算:Ue等于能量密度小ue乘以体积ΔV.
如果电场不是匀强电场,那我们怎样计算静电场能量?关键是确定体积元dV内储存的能量dUe。
dUe 等于该点能量密度 小ue 乘以 dV. 然后对dUe进行积分,得到总能量。我们可以采用之前讲过的方法来确定dV的表达式。
到目前为止,我们已经讲了很多有关静电场的故事。我们探讨了由静止电荷产生的电场的性质,我们称为静电场。
