大家好,让我们从有趣的现象开始今天的课程。
我们每天都在不经意间看见各种不同的现象。
某些时候,会偶然碰见一些新的有趣的现象,这时我们是否能够进行思考或是提出疑问?如果没有。就不可能有新的发现。
如果有思考或疑问,我们或许有新的发现。科学的发展正是起源于我们的观察能力和创造性思维。
很久很久以前,人们就观察到了一些有趣的现象。例如,琥珀经过摩擦之后,会吸引一些干的小树叶。在下雨的时候,天空经常会出现强烈闪光的现象。
这些现象背后的物理法则是什么?这就是今天要探讨的主题——电。你可能有这样的经历。
夜晚当你脱下毛衣的时候,你可能会看见火花。这里有两幅图。经过摩擦的梳子可以吸引小纸屑。
相信你们当中有些同学跟着父母去过科学馆,当你们的手触摸到这个仪器,头发就竖立起来。
真的很神奇!那么如何解释这些现象?这些现象背后的物理根源是什么?其实所有这些现象都跟电有关。
为了解释这些偶然看到的自然现象,我们会专门设计一些实验来增进我们的理解和认识。
例如,我们用毛皮摩擦橡胶棒,用丝绸摩擦玻璃棒。当橡胶棒靠近玻璃棒,两者会相互吸引。
而两个橡胶棒或两个玻璃棒靠近会相互排斥。大家会注意到两个实验现象:
吸引和排斥。那么如何解释呢?
为什么两支棒之间要么吸引要么排斥?话句话说,两者之间的相互作用意味着棒与棒之间存在力的作用。
大家会问:引起不同相互作用力的原因是什么?这个力从哪里来?这个力来自于电荷。
我们可以通过建立模型或者提出理论来更好地理解和解释所观察到的实验现象。
自然界中有两种电荷,正电荷和负电荷。
电荷又是哪里来的?我们知道所有的物质都是由原子构成。原子由原子核和周围的电子构成。
质子带正电,中子不带电。电子带负电,所带的电量和质子所带的电量数值上相等。
原子整体不显电性,这意味着一个原子的质子数和电子数是相等的,因此如果失去电子,那么物体就带正电。
相反,如果得到电子,物体就带上负电。现在让我们回到刚才的实验。
当玻璃棒和橡胶棒经过摩擦后,它们带电了,即带上了多余的电荷,净电荷不再为零。
结果,橡胶棒带上负电荷,玻璃棒带带上正电荷。
所以玻璃棒与橡胶棒相互靠近,静电作用为吸引力。
而玻璃棒与玻璃棒或者橡胶棒与橡胶棒会相互靠近时,静电作用为排斥力。
根据这些实验现象,我们得出结论:同号电荷相斥,异号电荷相吸。
现在我们有一个问题,摩擦带电是否就意味着摩擦可以创造电荷呢?
答案是孤立系统的电荷总数是不变的。电荷没有被创造,只是从一个物体转移到了另一个物体。
孤立系统的电荷总量是守恒的。
例如,当我们用丝绸摩擦玻璃棒,玻璃棒失去电子,留下等量的正电荷,所以带上正电。
丝绸从玻璃棒得到电子,带上负电。玻璃棒失去的电子数目和丝绸得到的电子数目是相等的。
在此过程中,没有电荷被创造,只有电荷转移发生。
我们也发现,电荷的量值不是任意值。任何带电体的电量总是等于某个基本电荷电量e的整数倍。
换句话说,电荷是量子化的。一个电子具有电量-e, 一个质子具有电量+e. 它们具有等量异号的电荷。
从以上实验现象我们知道带电体之间存在静电力。
但如何确定静电力的大小和方向呢?我们下一讲讨论。
