我们先回顾上一讲讨论的一个结果。半径为R的均匀带电球面,带电量为Q.
我们计算得到空间的电场和电势。现在来比较一下电场和电势分布,如图所示。
我们注意到,球面外,电势与距离r的一次方成反比,而电场与距离r的平方成反比。球面内电势为常数,而电场为零,
今天我们就来探究一下E和V之间的关系。
我们已经知道在电场已知的情况下如何计算电势。那么反过来又如何呢?如果给定区域的电势已知,又如何计算电场呢?
我们知道,电势差dV可以由此式表示。假设电场只有一个分量Ex, 那么E和ds的点乘结果变为Exdx.
由此,Ex等于电势V对x导数的负值. 这个方程告诉我们电场中某一点的电场沿x方向上的分量等于该点的电势沿x方向单位长度上变化率的负值。
对于y和z 方向上的分量也可以得到相同形式的方程式。因此,电场是电势随位置变化率的量度。
如果电场具有球对称性,电场强度E和位移dr的点乘结果变为Erdr. dV等于Erdr的负值. 因此,Er就等于电势V对r导数的负值.
再看上述的例子。球面外,电势V等于keq 除以r, 因为电势仅仅是r的函数,电势具有球对称性。
应用这个方程式,我们得到球面外的电场。E等于keq除以r的平方。
同样,球面内,V等于常数,所以导数为零,电场为零。
一般情况下,电势为x,y,z的函数,因此,电场强度分量Ex, Ey 和 Ez 可由电势分别对x,y和z求偏导得到,正如这三个方程式所示。
因此,如果在某一方向上如果电势没有变化,那么电场强度在这一方向上的分量就等于零。
如果在某一面上各点的电势是常数,那么这个面称为等势面。如果一个电荷沿着等势面上移动,则电势变化为零。
从这个方程可以得到,由于电势变化为零,则电场矢量E一定与位移微元矢量ds垂直。这就意味着某点的电场强度与通过该点的等势面垂直.
从这些图上你可以观察到等势面的特点。蓝色虚线表示等势面,棕色实线代表电场线。
很明显,各点的电场与通过该点的等势面垂直。
例如,对于点电荷的电场来讲,电势变化沿径向。
因此在这种情况下,等势面为一组以点电荷为球心的同心球面,如图b所示。这些同心球面与沿径向方向的电场线垂直。
到目前为止,我们花了很多时间讨论了真空中静电场的性质,即没有其它物体存在。
如果把其它物体放入电场,物体和电场如何相互作用?下一讲我们将探讨这个问题。
