Socially-Responsible Real Estate Development: Learning to Use Impact Assessment Tools Effectively > Module 1: Introduction > Introduction > ENVIRONMENTALIST
Environmental organizations are worried that such a large-scale project, in what they see as an ecologically sensitive area, will cause irreparable harm and degrade valuable ecosystem services. Environmental organizations often get together to designate one or two of them to serve on advisory boards or planning task forces. It is best if these organizations decide for themselves who will speak for them. When regulators or developers choose environmental representatives to participate in advisory processes, those individuals don’t have the same credibility. Many environmental groups will choose technically sophisticated representatives to speak for them.
