作为一个persistent structure

它所保留的

不光有它当下最新的那个版本

同时也将它

就像一个人一样

在整个生命期内

历史上重要的那些时刻

都分别做了版本的存档和记录

这意味着什么呢

这意味着你对这种数据结构

确实就像对一个人一样

你可以

如果真有需要的话

去调阅它在任何一个时候

比如说小学甚至是幼儿园的时候

所对应的当时的情况

你可以拿出来

翻阅 查找

这样一种persistent structure

是由Tarjan等人

最早提出来的

当然我们这里讨论的更多的

是所谓的partially persistent structure

也就是说它还不是完整的

完全的这种持久化的结构

这说明

这种结构的特点是什么呢

这种特点是

我们确实可以对每一个版本来进行查阅

但是

此前的历史既然已经成为了历史

你就不要去改变它

你可以改变的只有当下

最后的这个历史

这个版本

如果一个数据结构

能够支持这样的操作的话

那么我们就称之为一个

partially persistent structure

如果你使用过虚拟机

那么对这种结构

就应该很自然能够理解

难道不是吗

对于一个虚拟机

只要我们需要

我们就可以随时将它当下的状态

拍摄下来

做一个快照

这种snapshot

可以在很快的时间内

就记录和保存下来

而且如果也同样有必要的话

我们只需轻轻的一点

就可以在瞬间

回到此前的某个历史上的状态

就像月光宝盒那样

直接回到过去

既然能够随意的拍摄快照

并且能够根据需要

随时转回到历史的某个时刻

那么我们的虚拟机

其实就是一个不折不扣的

partially persistent structure

当然从理论上来讲

更加强大的

应该是所谓的fully persistent structure

完全持久化的结构

这种结构的理想之处

就在于

它所谓的这个历史

可以有同时并列的多个版本

可以分杈

而且在每个分杈下

还可以继续的分杈

如果是这样

你应该能想像到

它不仅能够修改当前最新的这个版本

而且确实可以滚回到

此前的某个前代的版本

然后沿着另一个分支

生长出一个并列的版本
